ODS Studio Free Modules

Free modules to get started with learning to use the ODS Studio modelling platform. For full professional functionality please download the PRO modules below.

Note: Please pay attention to the third-party software stack requirements and have the correct requirements installed. ODS Studio v1.x is designed to work on Blender 2.63; EnergyPlus v7.1; OpenFOAM-2.1.1; and Radiance v4 only. And ODS Studio v2.x is designed to work on Blender 2.71; EnergyPlus v8.0; OpenFOAM-2.3.0; and Radiance v4 only.


ODS Studio v2.1 Free Modules

This is all you need to get started on Mac or Linux platforms. This .zip package contains all of the free Blender add-ons as described below in a single package for download.

This is all you need to get started on Mac or Linux platforms. This .zip package contains all of the free Blender add-ons as described below in a single package for download.

ODS Studio v1.1 Free Windows Installer (all free modules + third-party binaries)

If you are on Windows this is all you need to get started. This package includes all the free modules outlined below as well as packaged binaries for OpenFOAM (for CFD) and Radiance (for daylight). The installer works on a 32 and 64-bit system however the OpenFOAM binaries are only installed on a 64-bit system.
NOTE: If you would like to upgrade to ODS Studio v1.2 for Windows then please use this installer first and then download the required packages for v1.2 separately from above. You must then extract the zip file and overwrite the files that are in your blender\2.63\scripts\addons folder with the new v1.2 files that you have extracted.

ODS Studio v2.1 All Pro Modules

This package contains all of the pro modules outlined below. Ensure that you have an "ALL Pro Licences" or a license for each of the modules before installing this package.

CFD Pro Module (v2.1)

This module permits CFD analysis of external and internal flows using a broader range of solvers including both transient and steady-state solvers for: incompressible; buoyant; porous and scalar-transport. A broader range of boundary conditions are also provided.

EnergyPlus Airflow Network (v2.1)

This module provides a greater number of HVAC system types and complexity such as: Package Terminal Heat Pump and Variable Air Volume type descriptions with more detailed inputs for system performance such as Economy Cycles and Chiller Part-Load Profiles.

Virtual Wind Tunnel (v2.1)

This module facilitiates the calculation of an arbtirary number of wind directions in a single calculation. This "virtual wind tunnel" provides the basis for many other advanced solvers such as urban comfort mapping and detailed wind studies.

Radiance Pro Module (v2.1)

This module permits advanced daylight analysis in Radiance such as: batch processing of a large number of zones; calculation of time-sequences and animations; and artificial lighting using IES descriptions.

Urban Comfort Mapping (v2.1)

This module provides the ability to use a combination of yearly weather files, year-round ray-tracing and cfd analysis to provide metrics for detailed urban comfort and pedestrian wind studies throughout a typical year.

Third Party Programs and Utilities

Third party binaries, scripts and programs required by ODS Studio for full functionality.


Python install script for Linux/Mac

This script automates the process of installing ODS Studio on a Linux or Mac machine. The script was created for an older version of ODS Studio so you will have to modify the script for your platform and version accordingly. However this modification is quite easy and the script is still useful for outlining the steps required for installation on these platforms.


Radiance 4r1 Windows Binaries

Binaries for Radiance 4r1 for Windows cross-compiled with MinGW.


OpenFOAM-2.1.1 binaries for Windows x64

These are cross-compiled binaries for OpenFOAM to run natively on a Windows 64-bit system. These will not work on a 32-bit system.


OpenFOAM-2.1.1 binaries for Mac

These are cross-compiled binaries for OpenFOAM to run natively on a Mac 64-bit system.


MS MPI (x64)

This is utility is required for Windows systems to do mutli-processing with OpenFOAM.
